This is my baby girl, Charlotte. She was born 7.5 lbs and about 20 inches.

As you can see...she is cute. And by cute....I mean beautiful.

I prayed a very selfish and vain prayer while she was in the womb. I asked the Lord, "please don't give me one of those weird looking babies...you know...those babies that look weird...and their parents convince themselves psychologically that their baby isn't weird looking...but it is. It is. Yeah, one of those....Lord, please...if you're out there and you love me. Amen".

And He did! He did! Either that...or I'm just one of those parents from my prayer. Aina and I were traveling to Wisconsin this past weekend and we happened to bump into the Shanes. That's what they're known as around these parts - "The Shanes". 6:30 am on Friday at Terminal E at DFW Airport. They were flying to Myrtle Beach for a conference, and we were traveling to Fond du Lac for a worship retreat. Here is Aina washing the feet of one of the local ladies in the Colonia. Normally, in the U.S., I frown on this sort of thing as it has the appearance of piousness to me rather than a real servanthood mentality. Personally, I would much rather have someone wash my car than my feet.

However, in this Colonia, it seemed rather applicable considering that the people walk everywhere in sandals...through the mud and dirt. So as Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show them that his Gospel of Love required the attitude of a servant....we should do the same if we call ourselves followers of Christ.


Eric negates the Gospel of Love and "throws" a Mexican kid in the mud. :)


We spotted this house that we think was built last year by our friends from Austin Christian Fellowship....the flower art gave it away.


Here is the church in the Colonia where the students play, read, and sing songs with the children...over cups of gatorade and cookies.


Meanwhile...back at the trailer. A neighbor spots Ben's "Kentucky" license plate and wishes to speak to him about all things Kentucky.


This is the best image I could get without freaking this lady out. She is old and wears pajamas. It seems weird to me that old people just walk around in pajamas all day like it's normal. But they probably
know something I don't.

After Michael is re-assured by his representative that they are working hard on his behalf, we begin our mapping trip into Rio Bravo. We are locating the sites where homes will be built in the following weeks so that the lumber crew can make their deliveries.


The Colonia we are mapping outside of Rio Bravo, Mexico.


Michael is happier and more congenial than previously thought. It is about this time that Marty Buchman checks in to inform that he has just met Vanilla Ice.

Michael is not tired. He is sad. His passport and drivers license were stolen in Mexico the other day. This has created mucho frustration for him as he has to be in South Dakota on Wednesday to get a Mission Discovery camp going. I am sad for him as well.

He just spoke with his state representive's office, Debra Maggart, and they said that they would call the DMV to see if they could throw their weight around.
I am a betting man, and this is unlikely.
